2023 Ford F-150 Lightning
Who says you can't go electric and drive a full-size truck? The 2023 Ford Lightning features a fully electric powertrain with more than enough power and performance to offer as a truck. This all-electric beast made its debut last year and continues to impress. Here are the best features of the 2023 Ford Lightning that have drivers everywhere talking.
Trim Levels
The 2023 Ford Lightning is available in four trims: Pro, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum. On the Pro, you get cargo box tie-downs, a power locking tailgate, front tow hooks, power-adjustable side mirrors, daytime running lights, LED projector headlights, rear privacy glass, and 18-inch machined wheels with Black High Gloss pockets. The XLT adds Carbon Black fixed extended running boards with enhanced lighting and heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals.
The Lariat features LED box lighting, a power tailgate with unique signature rear lighting and side mirrors with LED approach lamps, power-folding, and memory settings. You also get 20-inch alloy Dark Carbonized Gray wheels on the Lariat. The Platinum upgrades you with a power tailgate with a tailgate work surface, an onboard scale with a smart hitch, and 22-inch bright machined wheels with Ebony Black painted pockets.
Battery
The 2023 Ford Lightning features either a standard range or extended range battery depending on trim level. The Pro has a standard range battery with two inboard motors. This 98-kWh battery pack produces 452 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque. You can enjoy an EPA-estimated range of 240 miles with the standard battery. The XLT and Lariat run on the standard or an extended range battery, standard on the Platinum. The extended range battery is a larger 131-kWh that provides a 300-mile range and ups the power to 580 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
Going electric doesn't mean sacrificing performance, and the 2023 Ford Lightning provides plenty of performance-enhancing features. All-wheel drive is standard across all trims to give you optimal traction and control over various surfaces. You can select one pedal driving mode for a unique driving experience. You can choose from Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, and Off-Road modes, with drive mode select to customize the ride to fit your mood or conditions. Each trim also features trailer sway control, with an integrated trailer brake controller available on all trims except the Platinum, where it's a standard feature.
Interior
When you enter the 2023 Ford Lightning, you'll notice the convenient features designed for driver and passenger comfort. The Pro has a push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a 12-inch digital productivity screen. Moving up to the XLT adds an interior work surface and power-adjustable pedals. You get power-adjustable pedals with memory, heated and ventilated front seats, keyless entry, a heated steering wheel, ambient interior lighting, and a wireless charging pad in the Lariat. The Platinum features memory settings on the steering wheel.
Safety Features
Ford knows how important safety is when purchasing a new vehicle. The 2023 Ford Lightning features Ford Co-Pilot360 technology, such as pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, post-collision braking, a lane-keeping system, and a reverse sensing system. Optional features include Active Park Assist 2.0, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, trailer reverse guidance, and a 360-degree camera system.
